How to Use Color on Your Website

Color - and how you use it - is critical to your web site's success ... or failure. Different colors do and say different things and achieve different results in marketing. To see several examples of this, take a look at Color Properties.

You can also let users pick their own background colors ... take a look at "Let Your Users Pick Their Own Background Colors". To change the color of the text instead, replace bgColor with fgColor. Using linkColor will make the above script change the color of the links and vlinkColor will change the color of the visited links.

At 321Webmaster.com, you can find a tool that lets you convert hexadecimal color codes to RGB codes and reverse. This is helpful in trying to match specific colors to the "language" used in HTML.

Here is a useful Color Wizard by Dennis Cheung that lets you use a color picker to create a Cascading Style Sheet. Try it out.
