Webmaster Toolkit - free webmaster tools

This Ping Utility sends echo requests to the address you specify and lists the responses received and their round trip time. When the utility is terminated it summarizes the results, giving the average round trip time and the percent packet loss. This utility can be used to determine whether there is a problem with the network connection between two hosts.

The Dig Utility will allow you to query the Domain Name Service (DNS) database using the dig command to give you the most 'behind-the-scenes' information for an address. If you need less information, try using our DNS Query tool.

The DNS Query Utility will allow you to look up DNS information on the domain you specify.

The NSLookup Tool is a service to look up information in the DNS (Domain Name System). Basically, DNS maps domain names to IP addresses.
To resolve an IP address by reverse lookup (get a computer's name if you only have its IP address), use this NSLookup tool. This reverse lookup will only work if the IP address owner has inserted a PTR record in the DNS.

The .htaccess generator will generate the files you need (.htaccess and .htpasswd) to password protect a directory of your website. Just input the username and password you require, plus the exact path of the directory you want to protect. For more information about .htaccess protection, have a search on Google.

This Link Checker will read the page you specify, extract the links from it and test the status of each one. If any errors are found (broken links) these are reported.
Note: To save server time-outs, this tool will only check the first 60 links on a page. Please be patient as the tool does it's work.

The Link Extractor will extract all the links from a web page you specify and list them.

The IPS Tag Checker is a useful tool for those wanting to move .co.uk domains from one IPS tag to another. After the tag change has been requested, enter the domain name in question, the IPS tag of the provider you are moving the domain to, and your email address.
The tool will check on the status of the IPS tag every hour, and will email you if it finds the tag has moved. Entries to our database of domains to check are purged if they remain unchanged for 60 days.

The Cron Generator Utility will help you generate the syntax for creating a cron job.
Cron is a unix/linux function that will allow you to run a command at a specific time automatically. Whether you need it to run daily or weekly, you'll be able to accomplish this once the task is set up through Cron. Cron in essence is similar to a task scheduler, like the one built into the Windows Operating System.
Simply input the time you wish your program/script to run by inputting appropriate values into the form below. Times should be given in 24 hour format.

Examples:

  • To run a program/script every hour, you would put '0' in the minute box and leave the rest blank
  • To run a program/script every night at 11:30, you would put '30' in the minute box, '23' in the hour box and leave the rest blank
  • Then, input the full path to your program/script in the 'Script' box.

This HTTP Header Viewer will show you the exact HTTP headers that a web server is sending with a HTTP response. This can be useful if you need to know what cookies are being set or where any re-directs are going to, along with other details such as mime-type.
Simply input the url you wish to inspect into the box below and click the 'View Headers' button.

This chart shows you a list of common MIME types and their corresponding file extensions.

The MX Record Lookup tool will attempt to find out the mail servers used by an email address you specify. This can be useful if you need to check an email's authenticity, or check who handles email for a certain address.

The Spam Block List Checker tool allows you to query a number of spam-block and server boycott lists with an IP address you specify to try and ascertain if the IP address is listed as a known spammer or an open mail relay. This can be useful if you need to check the authenticity of logs or emails.

The Regional Proxy Tool allows you to view web sites as if you were located in a particular country or region selected from the dropdown list. Many search engines and other sites display different results or content depending on the accessing IP's geographic location, and so this tool can be useful if you need to know what id being displayed in a certain country.
Please input the URL you wish to view and select the country you require from the dropdown list below. These countries are likely to change as we get new proxies or old proxies expire, and as the page is being viewed through a proxy it will probably take longer than usual to load. Only the initial HTML page is loaded through the proxy; external files such as images and Javascript and any subsequent pages that are clicked through to are loaded through your own internet connection.

The IP Address Locator Tool will give you the physical location of the computer that has been assigned the IP address you are looking for.
