What
you get with our services
Many web design companies offer you a “cookie
cutter” design, which means all their web sites look pretty much the same,
e.g. CitySearch. We offer individualized design so that your web site stands
out from the competition. Your pages are designed in Microsoft Front Page, one of
the most sophisticated design programs currently on the market. We also have
extensive capability for the scanning and enhancing of artwork and component
design, including animated banners, if appropriate to your needs. We offer as little or as much as you want. Most
business owners don’t have the time to keep up with designing and
maintaining their website, finding their time better used in the things they
know best about their business. Many customers who have chosen to “go it
alone” tend to neglect their website for lack of time and expertise; those
websites either decline or eventually disappear, leaving disappointing
results. We provide the appropriate search engine registration
to bring you more traffic. Many companies will promise to register you on up
to 3,000 or more search engines, but the reality is – few people use, or
even know about, any but the top 10-12 search engines. All the others are a
waste of your time and money. It is important to measure your results. Simple “hit
counters” on a web page are a poor indicator, for several reasons. For
that reason, we recommend an independent traffic monitoring service as
HitBoxCentral, which can offer you a free traffic monitor service (with
their ad on your site), or a low-cost paid version that is ad-free. This
offers far better and more extensive monitoring ability than any simple
“hit counter.” We offer suggestions (at no extra cost, as many others will charge) to help coordinate your website with your other advertising or marketing approaches. Remember – your website is no more than one tool out of many in your toolbox, and it needs to work in coordination with the others. A website alone will not increase sales. Some useful tips before you start
The
collapse of the dot-com bubble in 2001 contains some very valuable lessons.
When the automobile was invented, many of those who invested time and money
in the “first wave” lost their shirts. It wasn’t until the second
phase that people like Henry Ford took advantage of the hard lessons learned
before him; those people prospered. The
main lessons from last year’s dot-com collapse are that (a) you have to
have a practical plan, and (b) those businesses which already have a real,
physical “bricks and mortar” presence still have the advantage over
businesses that exist in cyberspace only. As
you create your presence on the Internet, plan ahead what goals you want to
accomplish, how you want to use it, how it will supplement your existing
marketing and advertising efforts. It is no more a replacement for what you
are already doing than the fax is a replacement for the telephone. For
many businesses, the most successful approach is to start out using their
web site as a way to better serve existing customers. From there, it’s
easier to expand your outreach to new customers. A web site alone will not
bring you thousands of new customers. Anyone who tells you it will is simply
trying to get your money through false pretenses. Integrate
your web site into every bit of advertising you do now – Yellow Page
advertising, newspaper/radio/TV ads, business cards, brochures, billing
statements, newsletters, letterheads, etc. Your web site address and e-mail
address should be present on every piece of printed material that goes out
to the public, just as you would your phone number. Keep
your web site simple and user-friendly. This means your pages must load
quickly, so avoid Flash features, music, animations, etc. If your page
doesn’t load within a matter of seconds, most visitors will give up and go
elsewhere. If it doesn’t meet the goal of providing better service or more
sales, it isn’t needed. Select
color schemes that match those you already use (to present a more consistent
public image) or to convey the image you wish to present: formal, informal,
humorous, etc. Stress
your “real world” presence. A good way to do this is to give your web
site a personality with photos of your staff, founder, service people, etc.
– the faces that your customers either already know or will meet. Make
your web site more than just an online commercial. Provide useful, valuable
content specific to your industry or business. For example, if you sell
quality furniture, provide online tips and hints on how your customers can
preserve the beauty of their furniture, make simple repairs to scratches,
stains, etc. Educate your customers and establish yourself as an authority
on the products or services you sell. Don’t let your web site become stale. Regularly refresh it with new material (such as the tips and hints mentioned in the paragraph above). That keeps people coming back. Our
rates Because most of our investment in time and money goes
into the initial design of your website, we have two price lists – one for
those who want the “bare bones” package which you will monitor and
maintain yourself (HTML coding expertise required for any later changes),
and one for the “turn-key” package which we monitor and maintain. The
former is for those who are already proficient in web page maintenance; the
latter provides considerable cost-savings over time. Because of the
customized nature of our work, 50% of the initial design cost is payable in advance. We do not handle complicated e-commerce sites and extensive databases (SQL), but if you desire these features, we will find the best possible outsource at cost + 15% to handle our research and ongoing work with that provider to make sure it is properly integrated into your overall website structure and design.
Consists of up to 10 web pages with up to three photos or pieces of art per page, along with any necessary navigation buttons; free registration for HitBoxCentral traffic monitoring; and free registration on the top 12 Internet search engines, as well as your choice of any of our 29 free extra features. We provide no maintenance, no monitoring,
and no ongoing consultation or other assistance. You are responsible for any
domain registration and web hosting costs; we'll do the work to get you
up online and running. Your web site is
delivered to you on disc or CD, for you to do with as you choose, subject to
the terms of this agreement. Additional
