Metatags - These are the invisible codes within a web page that determine how high - and if - your page will be listed on the top search engines such as Google and Yahoo. These search engines have specific standards and rules; if not followed, you'll be invisible to the search engines and, therefore to potential visitors. You can have the world's prettiest web site - but if no one can find it, it's worthless. The box below shows the actual code from the website of one of our clients - www.TranzportMusic.com.

Page Protection - This helps prevent visitors from stealing your artwork and your page code. Try right-clicking on the page to see how it works. It doesn't work in all browsers because some of them offer very direct ways to circumvent any such protection.

Last Update - This box shows a tool that automatically lets your visitors know when the page was last updated.

Header Graphic - This graphic (which you also see at the top of the page) is called a "header graphic" and is the artistic banner that graces the top of most websites. You can choose from several standard designs which are then customized with your copy. Fully-customized headers are available starting at $65, but the standard designs are available at no extra cost.

Auto-Updating Copyright Notice - You'll never need to remember to update your copyright notice again, nor will you need to painstakingly change the year on every page every time a new year rolls around. This Javascript tool does it all automatically.

Breadcrumb Script - It's important to always let visitors to your site know just where they are in the labyrinth of your site. This tool not only does that, it lets them retrace their steps up one directory level at a time.

Bookmark Script - This tool easily lets visitors bookmark a page with just a click or two.

Print-Me Script - This button lets your visitors print out a page without having to go fishing around the toolbar at the top of their browser. This is one of our most-requested tools. It's yours free.

Protected eMail Address Script - This is a valuable tool that helps fight spammers who use "spambots" to scan millions of web pages looking for email addresses to add to their spam lists. This tool requires a real human being to match and type the code before an email can be sent.

eMail Form - An email form is far better than even a protected email address. It lets your visitors send you feedback or a message directly from the web page without ever having to open a new email program. Since most people today use Web Mail, such as joe@yahoo.com, few of them even know how to use the strange-looking Outlook or Outlook Express program that opens up in front of them when they click on your email link.

Drop-Down Menu Script - This simple-looking menu takes up little space and can be put on every page, even those within frames (as this page is). This is important because visitors may not always enter your site through the "front door." They can find a buried page on a search engine, click on it and find themselves on a page that may or may not have a navigation structure to find other parts of your site.

Online Yearly Calendar

Internal Search Engine - This is like having a Google search engine all your own, just for your own site. In this case, users can also use the Yahoo or MSN search engine "machine."

Tell-A-Friend Script - SOmetimes you run across something on the Internet you want to share with a friend or colleague. This little tool makes that very easy to do.

Search Engine Popularity Box - This is a tool I created myself that gives you bragging rights and impresses your visitors, once you've done the right things to start getting more links from the search engines. The site below has more than 4,600 listings on the top 25 search engines.

Hit Counter - This a simple and popular tool to let you and your visitors know how many "hits" a page has had over a period of time. It is not the most accurate method of counting visitors, but it's still widely used.

Web Site Stats - Website stats tell you much, much more than a simple counter does. You can't begin to appreciate it until you try it. Click on the link in the box below and your browser will open a new page. On the left column, click on VIEW STATS to see the wealth of information a website owner or designer can discover about their visitors.

Back to the Top Link - This is especially great for long pages or pages that are broken into many sections. The reader can read the section he/she wants, then easily pop back up to the top of the page without scrolling back.

Optional Benefits

Article Archive (optional) - If you want to keep visitors coming back, if you want to stay alive on the search engine - you must have fresh, changing content on your site. Otherwise, it's like turning on TV and finding the same old still photo month after month. The Internet today is more like television than a book or magazine ... and even magazines change with regularity. Here are a few sample newsfeeds that will provide changing content for your readers (but these examples will not help you in the search engines, because the search engines do not see what is inside the box.

Blog Script(optional) - A "blog" was originally called a "web log" - an online diary of sorts that can be used for virtually anything. They shortened the name to "BLOG" by getting rid of the "we" in weB LOG".

Chatroom (optional) - A Chatroom can be useful when you'd like visitors/customers to interact with each other.

Message Forum (optional) - Many companies are now using forums to replace their help desks or customer support staff. A forum allows customers and readers to help each other and helps you organize the whole system, adding your own input and help when and where needed.
